DCS ARTISTIC BOOTCAMP
11 — 17 SEP 2023 | Gabes (tn)

The ARTISTIC BOOTCAMPS by DANCEURS CITOYEN SUD (DCS) are open spaces for young artists to experiment, to discuss, and to develop skills in the fields of performing and visual arts. Each BOOTCAMP is mentored by a professional. Results will be presented ín a public display.

For the second time, Aymen Gharbi is invited as a mentor. He brings with him part of the INTERFERENCE team to support content generation, artistic development and production, social communication and art mediation, as well as documentation as integral part of public art initiatives.

CLIMATE JUSTICE

The DSC ARTISTIC BOOTCAMP is dedicated to climate justice. It aims to experiment with artistic means to address the environmental and the social impact of climate change on the local and the global scale.

Climate justice is a lens to examine the historical responsibilities for climate change and its impacts on human rights. It relates the causes and effects of climate change to concepts of justice, particularly environmental justice, and social justice. According to a 2020 report by Oxfam and the Stockholm Environment Institute, the richest 1% of the global population have caused twice as much carbon emissions as 50% of the poorest over the 25 years from 1990 to 2015. Just approaches address the unequal burdens in certain communities and realigns the society, culture, economy with natural systems. It aims at regenerative solutions that require a transformative system lens.
